Kay has served on the EDS board since 2018, serving as board chair from 2021-2024, as well as participating in all board committees during that time. Kay started a financial planning firm in 1990 and retired in 2021 after 36 years in the financial services industry. Birchwood Financial Partners continues to be a thriving investment advisory and financial planning firm serving many clients across the country.
Her 25 years as an Episcopalian have encompassed 12 years as a Credo finance Faculty, a trustee for the Episcopal Church in Minnesota, president of the Sheltering Arms Foundation in Minnesota, and many positions as a member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal church in Minneapolis. Previously she was a Lutheran Campus lay minister and served on several Lutheran boards.
She received her MBA from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management in 1985 and her Certified Financial Planner designation in 1987.
She is married to Sally Johnson, and they share a love of travel and the Northwoods of Minnesota and Wisconsin where they enjoy canoeing, kayaking, playing in the water, and walking with their husky mix dog Juneau.
