With deep gratitude, we announce that Miguel Escobar will be leaving his role as Director of Operations at Episcopal Divinity School, effective January 3. For the past seven years, Miguel has been an extraordinary leader and steadfast presence in the life of EDS. God willing and the people consenting—he will be ordained to the transitional diaconate on January 25 and pursue a nearly life-long call to serve as a priest in a Spanish-speaking, Latino congregation.
Miguel’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding EDS through significant transitions. With meticulous care and attention to detail, he has stewarded the school through complex moments of change, always ensuring that our mission and values remained at the forefront. His ability to navigate these challenges with grace and composure has been remarkable.
Beyond his strategic vision, his thoughtfulness, kindness, and deep empathy have left a lasting impression on all of us who have had the privilege to work alongside him. His commitment to justice, his theological insights rooted in a Gospel that liberates, and his unwavering dedication to all of God’s people has enriched the EDS community beyond measure.
As Miguel enters a new chapter in his ministry, we will miss his leadership and friendship and we look forward to witnessing the ways he will continue to be a gift to God’s people.
